Topical Bible Studies: Blood of Jesus

About This Bible Study on the Blood of Jesus

The blood of Jesus is the most powerful force in all the universe. Without it, the Christian faith would be non-existent because it represents everything that Jesus did for us on the cross.

Cleansing, redemption, sanctification, forgiveness, atonement; these are just some of the words that are associated with the bloof of Jesus in the Bible.

Gain a better understanding in this study of what Christ has done for us.

Blood of Jesus

What has the blood of Jesus achieved for us?

Heb 10:19 Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus,

Jesus' blood give us boldness to enter God's presence; this confidence would otherwise be impossible.

1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

Rev 1:5-6 and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, (6) and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Mat 26:28 For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

Jesus' blood cleanses us from all sin.

Rom 5:9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.

We have been justified by Jesus' blood.

A good definition of justification is: Just as if I'd never sinned.

We are now fully righteous in God's sight.

Eph 1:7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace

Col 1:14 in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.

1 Pet 1:18-19 knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, (19) but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.

Redemption comes through the blood of Jesus.

Redemption involves forgiveness, but to redeem literally means to buy back.

We have been bought back from slavery and from being possessions of the enemy, and now belong to Christ Himself.

John 6:53-54 Then Jesus said to them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you. (54) Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day."

The blood of Christ brings us spiritual life.

Eph 2:12-13 that at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. (13) But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.

The blood of Christ brings us near to God, giving us hope, access to the promises of God.

Col 1:19-20 For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, (20) and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross.

The blood of Christ brings us peace with God.

Heb 9:13-14 For if the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling the unclean, sanctifies for the purifying of the flesh, (14) how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

The blood of Christ cleanses our conscience from dead works.

Heb 13:12 Therefore Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people with His own blood, suffered outside the gate.

We are sanctified by the blood of Christ.

To be sanctified means to be made holy, to be set apart for God.

Rev 12:10-11 Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, "Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. (11) And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death."

Through the blood of Jesus, we overcome Satan as our accuser.
