Topical Bible Studies: Victorious Living

About This Bible Study on Victorious Living

Sadly, there are numerous Christians who live miserable, defeated lives. And yet, this was never God's intention. The purpose of the Cross was not just to bring forgiveness, but victory too.

But how does the Christian gain the victory, and what is that victory over? Read on to discover more of God's plan for your life.

Victorious Living

Did Jesus talk about living victoriously?

John 16:33 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.

Jesus reminded His disciples that, even though they would have tough times in this life, He had overcome the world.

In doing so, Jesus was implying that the same power to overcome would be available to His disciples.

What exactly are we meant to have victory over?

Rom 12:21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Christians have the power to overcome evil.

1 John 4:1-4 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. (2) By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, (3) and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world. (4) You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.

Christians have the power to overcome evil spirits who seek to deceive.

1 John 5:4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world; our faith.

Christians have power to overcome the world system.

1 John 2:13-14 I write to you, fathers, because you have known Him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you have overcome the wicked one. I write to you, little children, because you have known the Father (14) I have written to you, fathers, because you have known Him who is from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the wicked one.

Christians have the power to overcome the devil himself.

What is the secret to victorious living?

Rom 8:37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

1 Cor 15:57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

We are able to overcome through Christ who loved us.

Rev 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.

The blood of Christ is the key to overcoming the enemy.

Rom 12:21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

One important principle is to be good.

1 John 5:4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world; our faith.

Only through faith can Christians live victoriously.

1 John 2:14 I have written to you, fathers, because you have known Him who is from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the wicked one.

The Word of God gives us the victory over the devil.

What rewards are there for those who overcome?

Rev 2:7 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God.

The overcomer will receive eternal life.

Rev 2:11 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death.

The overcomer will not be harmed by the second death (the lake of fire - Rev 20:14).

Rev 2:17 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give some of the hidden manna to eat. And I will give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name written which no one knows except him who receives it.

The overcomer will receive a new name from Christ Himself.

Rev 2:26 And he who overcomes, and keeps My works until the end, to him I will give power over the nations;

The overcomer will have power over the nations.

Rev 3:5 He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.

The overcomer will not have his name blotted out of the Book of Life, will be clothed in white garments (righteousness), and will be acknowledged by Christ Himself before the Father and His angels.

Rev 3:21 To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.

The overcomer will sit on the throne of God!

Rev 21:7 He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son.

The overcomer will inherit all things and come into the fullness of sonship.
