Topical Bible Studies: Grace

About This Bible Study on Grace

More than anything else, the grace of God separates Christianity from every other religion in the world. It's no wonder that the devil wants to undermine our understanding of grace. (See the Bible Study on good works too.)

Grace is the absolute basis of our relationship with God. It is grace alone that entitles us to the many blessings of God.

Every Christian should have a clear understanding of God's grace and how it works in our lives.

Grace

What is grace?

John 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

Grace has been defined as God's unmerited favour.

But if you want an example of grace, Jesus Christ was the perfect embodiment of the grace of God.

What are the benefits of grace?

Rom 3:24 being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,

Our justification (being made right with God) comes only through grace.

Eph 1:7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.

The grace of God is what brings us redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

Rom 5:17 For if by the one man's offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.

Victorious living comes through God's grace as we reign in this present life.

Rom 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.

The power of sin is overcome by the grace of God.

Heb 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Grace brings us access into the throne-room of God as well as help in time of need.

Rom 12:6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith;

The gifts in our lives come through God's grace.

1 Cor 3:10 According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it.

1 Cor 15:10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.

The grace of God enables us to do what God has called us to do.

2 Cor 12:9 And He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness." Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

God's grace gives us all that we need to be able to cope with the trials of life.

2 Cor 9:8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.

God's grace supplies us with everything necessary to fulfil every good work that He has called us to do.

Eph 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, (9) not of works, lest anyone should boast.

Salvation comes through God's grace.

How can we obtain the grace of God?

Rom 4:4-5 Now to him who works, the wages are not counted as grace but as debt. (5) But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness,

Rom 5:2 through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

Eph 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, (9) not of works, lest anyone should boast.

It is not possible to earn God's grace as it is a free gift.

The only way to access it is through faith alone.
