Expository Bible Studies: Psalm 23:1-3 | Psalm 23:4-6

About These Expository Bible Studies on Psalm 23

Psalm 23 is one of the most well-loved portions of the Bible. The verses are so comforting that they are often read at funerals to console the bereaved, and certainly many people who do not know the Lord have heard the words, "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want."

I think that one of the attractions of this portion of Scripture is that it's so clear that God is the initiator and that I am simply a responder.

Focusing on the relationship of a shepherd to his sheep, the psalmist relates this scenario to the relationship between Yahweh the Shepherd and the believer as the sheep.

Written by David who himself was a shepherd long before he was a king, we would expect to find keen insights into that relatinship.

One of the key concepts is that of rest. So, if you want to become a more restful person, then this study is for you. These Expository Bible Studies take a look at some of the deeper meanings behind these beautiful verses.

This psalm has been divided into two separate studies: Psalm 23:1-3, and Psalm 23:4-6.

Books to learn from

Spiritual warfare is an area of Christian life that is easily relegated to one of two extremes. It is either seen as irrelevant in our enlightened times and therefore ignored. Or it is viewed as an activity to be engaged in on special occasions when the church participates in a spiritual warfare meeting. That's just what the devil would like us to think. This book is based on sound Biblical teaching that every Christian, like it or not, is involved in warfare daily. If you're serious about overcoming the devil, read this book. Topics covered include: Satan's greatest weapon, overcoming temptation, God's Word and other spiritual weapons, how to use the whole armor of God, the real meaning of "in Jesus' name", the power of the blood of Jesus, and more.
